Description:
St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines, Moradabad organised an awareness session under the National Leprosy Elimination Programme on 4th Feb 2026 for students of Classes IX and XI.
The programme aimed to spread correct information and remove myths related to leprosy.
The guest speaker, Dr. Bhaskar Agarwal from the District Hospital, addressed the students in an informative and interactive manner. He explained that leprosy is a curable disease caused by bacteria and is not highly contagious. Dr. Agarwal discussed the common symptoms such as light or numb skin patches, loss of sensation, and weakness in hands or feet. He also highlighted the importance of early detection and timely treatment.
The speaker guided students on necessary precautions, including maintaining personal hygiene and seeking medical help without fear or delay. The session helped students understand the need to treat patients with care, respect, and awareness, supporting the goal of eliminating leprosy from society.
